Below are a list of commonly held defenses and arguments against positions. Every conceivable objection, of course, is not possible to cover, as new and creative approaches to the scriptures will always surface, however, the most common and intriguing of these will be held here, so that the preemptive student, or passing observer, may look in at a particular subject or argument and determine whether the statement has any basis.
As such, this is not meant to be an exhaustive list, but rather a quick reference, or hit-list, for those objects most commonly floated about in defense of another viewpoint.
Of note, of the four major schools of interpretation, both Idealism and Historicism are left out. Both of these rely too heavily upon suggestion and reading a desired end into the text to bear consideration. As we are only interested in what the text actually says, and not what we want it to say, these are not consistent methods of interpretation of scripture, and are thereby false.
