CLAIM: The millennial temple will be built in Jerusalem. Ezekiel summarizes the sacrifices and offerings after Jesus’ return to the earth. Some confuse these sacrifices with the sacrifices for sin. However, there is no need of another blood sacrifice for sin since all such sacrifices were abolished by the death of Jesus (Heb. 8:5, 13; 9:9, 24, 10:1). The sacrifices are not substitutionary as they were before Jesus’ death, but rather they will be commemorative. They will look back in remembrance to the cross like we do when taking communion. Ezekiel was commissioned to observe the architectural details and measurements of the future temple to encourage his people with the certainty of its coming.
Probably referring to the life after Israel is restored, a time frame in Ezekiel 38-39 being foretold as being at least 7 years. This appears to be the “restoration of all things”, and may not be a literal restoration of sacrifices (as per Isaiah 66:3), but that of the restoration of true sacrifices, of true faithfulness, and true righteousness, beginning with the root, and extending to all those who follow Christ.
