Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 4:17
“Caught up” in this verse, is the Greek word ‘harpazo’ (G726), and is where we get the modern idea of a “rapture”.
However, the modern concept of a rapture, as being before, during, or after the Great Tribulation must be somewhat adjusted, realizing that the Great Tribulation refers to the 70 AD events.
Obviously, those who are alive at Christ’s Second Coming will be “caught up” alive, raptured, in that sense of the Word. However, since the basic premise of the rapture, as put forth by furturists concerning the Great Tribulation, their concept, which finds no other solid basis in Scripture, does not need to be considered at length. In the sense that they talk about a ‘rapture’, it didn’t happen in 70 AD, and so it wont.
